My Birthday...

My bday july 2003

...is coming up tomorrow, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get people to understand, I don't really celebrate my birthday anymore. In the last 3 years I've used it as an excuse (a good one too!) to go to a rave. Now that I don't really go to raves anymore, people keep asking me what I'm doing or if I'd like to go to dinner, or what I want for my birthday.

Here are the answers that I have been using.

Q: What are you doing for your birthday?
A: NOTHING.

Q: Would you like us to take you out to dinner (this one is from Significant Others parents)?
A: I think I'm gonna be out of town on my birthday (I find it hard to actually say no to the fiances parents, so I try to weasel my way out as best I can).

Q: What would you like for your birthday?
A: NOTHING (what, do I look 12 y/o to you?).

Ok, sorry for the rant, just find it hard to get people to understand my birthday is just another day to me...

you know, of the three things i was planning to do for you on your birthday, only one of them is even close to being appropriate for a 12 year old. hmmm, i guess if it bothers you that badly...

excuse me for appreciating the fact that you were born :p not that i don't do that most days anyway, but this is how i see it: when you stop looking forward to your birthday, the next step, however eventual and far off, is dreading it. and that means that you're old and life isn't fun anymore.

and if you don't want to go to a rave for your birthday this year (even if it's a little later on), then i'll go for you :)

it also means, (as she told me after I read this, "or it means you're a grumpy old man." not the exact words, but grumpy old man nonetheless... :p
